what-you-get.jpg

Let’s get to the point. Here’s what you get when you purchase RAW Processing Concentrate

  • Over 5 hours of video tutorials (works with Mac & PC)

Yeah. There’s a lot. But they’re broken up into quick little shots of knowledge, between 3min - 15min on average. That’ll make it super easy for you to choose which topics you’d like to learn, and pop it on during your coffee break, lunch break, or commercial break during 30 Rock. Whatever floats your boat.
  • 16 presets

We’re including 16 presets we whipped up to help you learn. These are intended for you to study, reverse engineer, and then help you on your way to create your very own presets. Remember: follow your own unique processing style and stand out from the crowd!
  • Example Files

The files that we work on during the tutorials are included as well, so that you can follow along and see how things work. This is great if you’re the kind of learner that needs to “do it for yourself” for concepts to sink in!
  • Sliders cheat sheet

We’ve written out a short description of each and every slider in the Develop module as a handy reference sheet. Refer to it as you’re learning, without needing to rewatch all the videos!
  • Shortcuts cheat sheet

We’ve also made a couple shortcut cheat sheets with our most used shortcuts on there. There are probably a million more shortcuts you could learn, but these are our essentials!

When we created the tutorial we spent quite a bit of time making sure the sound and video quality was great (after all you have to listen to Rob for over 5 hours :), so we wanted to share this clip so you can get a first hand look at the tutorial! This sample video features a brief introduction to the split toning panel in Lightroom. We go into it in greater depth in subsequent videos from the tutorial.

skills.jpgThese are the take-away skills you’ll have at the end of the tutorial. Then you’ll be on your way to owning your editing process, and developing your own style!

Creative Processing

Lightroom has way more options for creative processing than you probably think. The options are nearly limitless, and the results far more subtle and organic than creating the same effects in Photoshop. We hardly ever open Photoshop anymore, because Lightroom does nearly all that we need. We’ll show you a wide array of techniques for going further than simple RAW processing, and then how to experiment on your own to unlock new levels of awesomeness.

perfect-bw_.jpg

Perfect Black and Whites

The holy grail of digital photography: the perfect black and white. It’s not difficult, but it’s not a “one-size-fits-all” kind of deal. We’ll show you how to take control of black and whites, and learn the process behind creating them. From there, we’ll show you some different looks and styles you can apply to your black and whites for extra special images.

Simplify your workflow

Whether you’re a hobbyist or a pro, the thought of editing hundreds of your images is daunting. So much so that often many images are left behind for the sake of saving your sanity. We’ll show you how to use Lightroom to simplify your workflow, and save yourself countless hours of editing.

Shoot for Lightroom

A great image will always begin in camera, no matter how talented you are at processing. We’ll hook you up with some tips to improve your photography from capture, and adjust your techniques to take full advantage of all that Lightroom can do.

Correct tricky lighting

Light is at the core of what we do as photographers, but it’s not always kind to us. Lightroom can help you save your photos taken in tricky lighting situations, and turn blah into keepers.

Lightroom from import to export

Not sure where to start, or how to finish? Worry not. We’ll take you through the entire process, from importing to export, and show you all the settings you need to get the most out of your images.

Achieve consistency

Having consistent processing is hugely important, as it’s how your clients know what to expect from you! We’re not saying to make every shot the same, that would be boring! But we’ll show you how to create complimentary looks, and achieve a beautiful, consistent feel to your work.

Develop your own style

As a digital photographer, the way you process your images will be a large part of what defines your style. It will also help set you apart from your competition. Unfortunately, too many photographers rely on pre-made looks, and homogenize themselves. Using Lightroom, you will be able to create a completely unique processing style, and stop outsourcing your artistic vision. Don’t stress though, it’s dead easy to do.

Video Tutorials

RAW Processing Concentrate is a collection of video tutorials. We’ve found that reading through pages of text isn’t a great way to learn a hands-on program. Watch us edit images in real-time, and get a feel for the program instantly.

Exercise Files

We include the exercise files used in the tutorial so you can follow along. Try it out for yourself, see how it works, and then open your own images and get going!

Real World Focus

We are photographers. We use Lightroom with real images of real clients, in a real business. This tutorial will focus on what you really need to know about Lightroom, without all the fluff. This isn’t just a list of the features, this is how we use this program every day to edit all our images.

Room to Grow

We’ve designed this tutorial to teach you how to use Lightroom in a way that encourages lots of experimentation and growth. This will hopefully be the last tutorial you’ll need to buy on the program and you certainly won’t need to spend your hard earned money on presets. It’s that whole “teach a man to fish” principle, but where the fish is Lightroom. That’s a weird visual…

RAW Processing Concentrate is quite possibly the best bang for buck I have ever received! Prior to the videos, I had done 95% percent of my post-processsing in the Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop but was itching to learn Lightroom. I was seriously addicted to the tutorial from the minute I started watching the first video — in fact, I watched all of the (over 5 hours) of video almost back to back. The videos are incredibly well done, and the content is crystal clear. Much to the amusement of my family, I found myself exclaiming “Thanks Rob!” at the end of each video. The videos were the perfect structured learning for someone like me, someone who can’t learn from a book, but learns by trying, experimenting and doing. The presets that are provided with the intention that students will reverse engineer them in order to better understand some of the functionality of Lightroom, are a brilliant learning tool. And, the shortcut cheat sheet - just a (not-so) little extra that makes me happy every time I use it. To top it all off, the value of this product is far, far beyond the price, and you are able to watch them again and again, as needed! I would recommend the tutorial to anyone, from anyone looking to learn Lightroom from scratch, to people wanting simply brush up on their skills, or even those who just want to get an insight into what makes Rob & Lauren’s photos just that amazing! - Allison
I purchased your Raw Processing Concentrate tutorial a few weeks ago and now Lightroom is my new found love. It was way easier & quicker to follow along to video than to spend hours doing tutorials from a book and less expensive than taking a weekend course.  Plus I can always reload the video and watch again if I forgot something. It’s made a huge difference in my post-editing workflow and I just love the presets. You guys did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to see what else you have to offer with Photography Concentrate. - Sandi
I am loving the videos and finding out about stuff I didn’t even know I could do in Lightroom. Thank you for providing that knowledge. I feel I can unlock a lot out of my images! - Kerrie Jay
…thank you for your awesome Lightroom course. Your knowledge of the program has helped me so much already. I’m so thankful for it! I will be recommending it to all my local photog peers because it is an amazing tool, and you are a great teacher. Thank you! - Andrea

I’m a pro/hobbyist. Is this tutorial right for me?

If you’re not currently using Lightroom to do the majority of your processing, then we think this tutorial will be great for you. Lightroom is relatively easy to learn, and can improve any photo. Whether you shoot dozens of weddings and portraits every year (like us), or just want to create better images of your family and your travels, Lightroom can be a perfect solution. It’s both flexible and powerful, and if you haven’t yet been convinced of it’s strength as a total processing solution, this tutorial will open your eyes!

I don’t shoot RAW. Can I still use Lightroom?

You might not like this answer, but it’s honest. If you don’t shoot RAW, START! Even if you just use a fancy point and shoot, we really believe that shooting RAW is the first step to better images. And with storage cards becoming cheaper by the day, there is no excuse to not capture incredible moments at the highest quality possible. You’ll thank us down the road for this tip. If you refuse to shoot RAW? You can still edit JPEGs in Lightroom, but you’ll be missing out on the real power of the program.

What version of Lightroom does the tutorial use?

The tutorial is recorded using Lightroom 2.0. Lightroom 3.0 has some new features, but the core techniques we will teach you will remain the same regardless of which version you use. A section of this tutorial covers the relevant changes that exist in Lightroom 3 Beta 2, and how you can incorporate those new features. For more details check out this post.

What file type is this tutorial?

RAW Processing Concentrate is supplied as .mov files, which you will be able to download immediately after payment. You will need Quicktime to play them, which you can download for free here. VLC works as well, which you can get for free here. This tutorial is compatible with both Mac and PC

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit cards through a secure online shopping cart.

What currency do you charge in?

All prices are in US dollars. Our cart will automatically update the price into whichever currency you choose so that you can have an exact amount that you will need to pay.

I only have Lightroom 1.0. Will this tutorial still help me?

Maybe. Maybe not. A few features we find quite useful in Lightroom were introduced in version 2.0. To us, it really became a different, and vastly more powerful program after the update. For that reason we recommend you have Lightroom 2 to get the most out of this tutorial.

I don’t have Lightroom. How do I get it?

Lightroom is a program created by Adobe, and available for purchase (or free trial) through their online store here. You can also try out the Beta version of Lightroom 3 for free here.  Disclaimer: We are not associated with Adobe at all, just very avid supporters and users of their fantastic products.

What about Aperture?

What about it? Kidding, I know what you mean. Many people use Aperture for their RAW processing instead of Lightroom. At this time we don’t have a tutorial in the works, though if there is enough interest we can adapt most of what we do in Lightroom to Aperture. They are, however, different programs, with different strengths and weaknesses and abilities. For what we do, and the way we work, we prefer Lightroom, and that’s why we’ve created this tutorial using it.
